Scent Art & the Memory It Leaves Behind
Hello Bloomers!
There’s a scent I can never quite forget—lavender, soft and calming, with the slightest trace of something warm and sweet... vanilla, I later learned. It used to linger in the folds of my grandmother’s sweaters, in the handkerchief she kept in her purse, and sometimes even in the kitchen air after she’d baked something she swore was “just for a little treat.” Even her purse had the scent—it was just hers, through and through.
I didn’t realize how deeply that scent had planted itself in my heart until years later, long after she was gone. One quiet afternoon, I walked into a room and stopped in my tracks. The air smelled just like her—lavender and vanilla. And for a moment, she was there. Just like that. No words. Just warmth. Just presence.
Grief is strange, isn’t it? Some days it sneaks in and steals your breath. Other times, it wraps around you gently, like a memory you didn’t know you needed. There have been moments I’ve cried remembering her laugh… and others where I’ve caught myself laughing with her in my mind. That’s the quiet joy hidden inside a painful goodbye—love never really leaves. It lingers in the air, in the stories, in the scents.
That feeling inspired one of my most personal creations: Lavender & Vanilla Bloom. These floral soaps are more than just pretty pieces. They’re a tribute. A soft, soothing blend to calm the spirit and awaken memory. Because now, when I walk into a room and catch that scent... she’s with me. My grandmother. My comfort. My bloom.
I hope this blend brings you comfort, too. Maybe it reminds you of someone. Or maybe it becomes part of your story—one of peace, of warmth, of holding joy close even when it hurts.
Until next time Bloomers, remember to be kind to yourself and others! 🌸
